Age of Mythology and MSXML 4 problem

I've just bought Age of Mythology and I've installed it on my computer but when I run it an error message appears saying "MSXML 4.0 is not installed correctly. It is required to run the game". I have read the Microsoft knowledge base article on this and removed and reinstalled MSXML but I still get the same stupid error message.

Any ideas?

did you re-install MSXML 4.0 from the game disk itself?

did you restart the computer afterwards?

That's not a good idea at all, if you don't get it working take it back for a refund!

I've never played the game...Is it like AOE? Now that is a fooking great game.

It's made by the creators of AOE, and its similar except it features mythical units as well as human units.

I did reinstall MSXML from the game disc and rebooted but it still doesnt work.

Finally fixed it.

Turns out that the MSXML install of the AOM disc doesn't work, and neither does copying the files over from another computer. So I downloaded MSXML 4.0 sp2 from microsoft and that fixed the problem.

I have tried many times but still get the same error message.what should I do to make the game run properly?
